Seven of my favourite FREE tools

Blog - Simply Whyte Design | Auckland Brand Web Design

My life would be a lot more stressful if I didn't utilise tools and apps to help me keep my processes organised. And being the al chepo Scottish lass that I am if it has a free option to really test out the tool. I always like to try something to its full extent before purchasing it and putting it into my process.

What ever business you run these seven tools will help! They will make your life so much easier. So in no particular order here they are.

1. Pinterest
Of course I'm totally obsessed with this as Im a very visual person and if you like to do your research or get inspiration quickly and easily this tool is great. If you don't know what Pinterest is, its a plethora of images that people pin on virtual mood boards. You can collaborate on a board, I use this with my clients when they want to share a certain colour or style they are looking for.

2. Dropbox
If you save all your file on your desktop..STOP! You always need to make sure you have a back up in the cloud, and thats where Dropbox comes in handy. You get a certain amount of storage for free and then you have to start paying but its worth it to get all your files save. I use this with clients when I've finished artwork and need to send it over to them. It means they have a access to a copy when ever they need it and I don't have to keep sending it to them.

3. Skype
Can't make that meeting, or you live in different countries? Skype is an online video call tool that allows you to contact people and talk to them live through video or if your a little shy you can turn off the camera.

4. MailChimp
A great stepping stone to help you learn and get into email marketing. You can do all sorts in MailChimp. Its basically a way to manage subscribers, send emails and then check results. It integrates with a lot of other tools as well such as Squarespace and Wordpress which I use for designing websites.

5. Hootsuite
If you struggle like I do to get all your social media organised this tool is a must.

6. Wave
If you don't have a lot of time to do your accounting, find it a bit complicated then Wave is a great tool to use. You can brand your invoices, set up estimates and more. I love this because its so easy and makes my life easy and we all need a bit of that, right?

I find I use these tools every day, keeping things simple and easy is so paramount for your business and also your sanity, so try and use the ones that really help you.

Are there any tools you use every day? I'd love to hear about which ones work for you the best?

7. Evernote
Ever had that idea that you needed to jot down really quickly, this app will capture whats on your mind easily.

Have you got tools in your business that you can't live without? I'd love to hear about them.
