Premade vs Custom Logo Design: Which One Is Right For You?

A good logo is extremely important for your business not only for immediate brand recognition but, more importantly, to convey the image you want. Your logo is an integral part of your company's brand strategy and must reflect your purpose, personality, attitude, and sense of style. It must be well-designed, compelling, and memorable.

When it comes to choosing logos then, which one should you pick - premade or custom?

Premade Logos

Premade logos are pre-designed logos that can be purchased right away. Usually, the only customisation you can ask for is to have your brand name and tagline added or to change the font or text color. 

There are a variety of reasons why you might suit a premade logo.

  • Budget. Premade logos are considerably cheaper than custom ones. If you're a start-up business with a very limited budget a premade logo will help you get up and running.

  • Availability. There are many graphic design companies offering premade logos. When you find one you like, you'll know exactly what you're going to receive because you can already see it designed and developed right there.

  • Time Frame. If you want a logo right away, and I mean in 5 mins right away, premade is the way to go because the customisations to be made are minimal and usually they can be delivered almost instantly.

 
 

What's tricky about premade logos is that they might not end up being truly unique, which is not good for your business. When choosing a premade logo, you also need to make sure that it is sold only once to avoid others from having a logo that looks a lot like yours.

You also need to make sure that the right files types are provided to you. Your logo needs to be in a vector format so a file type names EPS or AI are what you need to receive as well as your standard JPG, PNG, PDF.

Custom Logo

  • Customisation. You will start with a blank canvass and can basically create anything you want. You can decide on all the elements, such as colors, font, and graphics. Custom branding packages also allow for several revisions to refine and perfect your logo.
